can we be sure that we're safe OL?

there are a lot of security issues that are floating around us nowadays. mainly because of the ease of access we have to files that are under the IPR law through the internet. there are torrent sites, hacking sites and all these 'free' downloads if only you know where to look. it's as if people don't care anymore about the hardships others faced just to procure the set of information they so thoughtlessly 'steal'. if steal is a very harsh word for you, then let me rephrase it: download, copy-paste.

moreover, identity thefts are rampant. i have heard of a lot of stories about how their credit cards had been used by another person, how another practically begged his friends to get cellphone load or money and the likes. it gets tiring. why don't just people be responsible with the 'net? however of a cliche it may be, as Uncle Ben puts it, "With great power comes great responsibility." having virtually the whole world at your fingertips is so much of 'power' so we need to be responsible. information is practically flooding our computers everytime we log in to the 'net and yet, we've never been the responsible enough.

i guess, laws really have to be strictly implemented to protect the welfare of millions of 'net users everyday. it's the only way that people will have complete faith while surfing loads of sites everyday. honestly, i don't feel so safe anymore. i haven't heard of someone who got prosecuted because of an internet crime recently and it creeps me. i know there are a lot of illegal transactions ongoing everyday OL but no one's being held responsible. it's just downright creepy, right?
